Math News: We have begun learning how to measure to the nearest inch and centimeter in math.  It would be helpful for students to spend some time measuring different items using a ruler or tape measure.  Some suggestions are measuring the length of a book, the height of a table, or the distance from the refrigerator to the sink.  Have your child give an estimate of a length or distance before measuring.  Recording the measurements on paper using the unit of measurement is beneficial.  Thank you for your support.

Welcome:  I am so happy to welcome all of you back to school for the third trimester.  Our new second grade class is in Room 202.  We will be with all the second graders to participate in special classes and eat lunch in the gym.

This Week: We have been doing a lot of practice relearning school procedures and expectations this week. I am so pleased with how well everyone is doing! One of the expectations we have is that your children will be reading every night. It is the best way for them to become better readers. It has been fun getting to know your students and I look forward to helping them grow the rest of the year.

Spring Weather:  Please note that with the changing temperatures and our proximity to the lake, it can be hard to dress for the day.  We will be enforcing coats to 50 degrees and long sleeves to 60.  As for shorts, let's keep those for days when it's going to be 60.  If we get a breeze off the lake, it can be a cold 20 minutes on the playground.  Thank you for your help.
